What a 1X2 prediction is
1 is a home win, X a draw, 2 an away win, settled after 90 minutes plus stoppage time. The three chances on every match page come straight from the model and always sum to 100%. The pick is the most likely result when it clears 52% (strong) or 62% (banker).
A draw is only picked above 30%, because the draw rarely passes 35% in any match. Extra time and penalties in a cup tie play no part: a match level after 90 minutes is a draw for this market whoever goes through.
The list ranks today's and tomorrow's picks by chance and the chips narrow it to banker and strong grades.
1X2 predictions today and tomorrow, with the correct score beside them
1X2 predictions for today lead the list and tomorrow's follow, ranked by the chance of the picked result. The list is capped at the twelve strongest rows a day so that it stays a selection rather than a copy of the full board, which lives on the day pages with every fixture.
Each row opens a match page where the 1X2 chance sits beside the most likely correct score, because the searches for 1X2 predictions with correct score are asking one question: what result, and by what score.
A home win at 58% with 2-1 at 11% is a different bet from a home win at 58% with 1-0 at 14%.
Weekend 1X2 picks arrive from Thursday as the Saturday and Sunday fixtures are priced, and the 30-day hit rate for the market sits beside the list.
Reading the 1X2 odds against the chance
A bookmaker's three prices imply three probabilities that sum to more than 100%. The excess is the margin, usually 4 to 7% on a single book and under 2% when the best price on each outcome is taken from different books. The match page shows every line and marks the best.
The margin calculator turns any three prices into fair chances. The edge on 1X2 predictions is the model chance against the best price, and the value bets page lists the largest. The favourite in a three-way market wins only about half the time, so a 55% pick losing twice in a row is routine.
The record to watch is the hit rate against the chances over a month, which for this market is 56%.
When the pick should be double chance instead
A 1X2 pick between 45 and 55% with a draw above 27% is usually weaker than its double chance at 80% for 1.25. The board's headline pick switches to the double chance in those cases, and the list keeps the plain result for those who want the price.
The opposite case also exists: when the draw sits under 22%, the 12 double chance pays close to even money for an 80% chance and the draw no bet keeps most of the win price with a refund on the stalemate.
The match page prints all of these side by side, which is the point of reading the full page before taking the headline number.
Home, draw and away in the 1X2 list
Most picks here are home wins, because home advantage plus a stronger squad is the commonest way to pass 52%. Away picks are fewer and carry more value, since markets lean towards home teams. The away win page collects them.
Draw picks appear only on matches rated 30% or more for the stalemate, a handful a day. And the draws page ranks those with the price that makes them worth backing.
Each competition page shows its recent record on the 1X2. And the leagues where the model's result calls land closest to their stated chances are the big five, where prices are sharpest and the calibration is tightest.
Questions people ask
What does 1X2 mean?
The three possible results of a match: 1 for a home win, X for a draw, 2 for an away win, settled on 90 minutes plus stoppage time.
How accurate are 1X2 predictions?
Strong and banker picks should land close to their 52% to 70% chances. The 30-day record for the market is 56%. The favourite in a three-way market wins only about half the time.
Why is the favourite often under 50%?
Because the draw takes 20 to 30% of the probability in most matches. A 48% favourite is still clearly the likeliest single result.
Where do I find the best 1X2 odds?
On each match page, where every bookmaker's three prices are listed and the best in each column is marked.
